Upon rewatch: minor spoilers…
Detail I missed the first time: The older guy in the bar has a big brass belt buckle that says “Nobody’s Ever Raped”. I swear all of us in Virginia aren’t like that. (Some are.)
Do you consider this version folk horror? I think I do. Let me know on my horror forum or here. I do know enough, living near one of the entrances of the Appalachian Trial and on the edge of the woods, not to mess with the woods. The woods had its own and so do I.
I admire the setup and filming of the logrolling scene. Extremely well done.
