Offers and Supplications
As I settle in to my new host, Ghost, and upload all the episode transcripts for paid members, and try to celebrate my upcoming birthday, and deal with everything that has been on my plate that yes, I am going to share with you, I am offering two coupons for becoming a paid member.
- For the rest of February, you can lock in 53% off the yearly forever in honor (ha!) of my 53rd birthday on the 16th. That's 2.65 USD per month, and I will never tariff. Is that a verb? I just made it a verb. It's been a weird winter. https://www.theremightbecupcakes.com/53-birthday/
- Or here's a coupon for a free trial for 30 days, to come in and unwrap all the cupcakes. https://www.theremightbecupcakes.com/free-trial/
Paid members receive the occasional private newsletter/website entry, plus ad-free podcast episodes on-site and delivered to your email for you to archive if you are a data hoarder like myself, plus the transcripts for every episode. I am in the process of transferring those over, they are a'comin'. Your support helps this disabled podcaster help out Ghost, my independent host, and keep the lights on at Spreaker (my podcast host) and my domain host.
Yes, I have left social media. I don't want to be under the scrutiny, nor on the treadmill of, billionaires any longer. Nor do I want to acquiesce in advance to tyranny or TRASH (transphobia, racism, ableism, sexism, homophobia) or be used to train such people's AI, etc. There's some spooky stuff going on. You can only find me on BlueSky, because they are remaining independent of the financial pull and not allowing hate. My handle is theremightbecupcakes.com.
And this is why I left Substack.
Remember how I told you about my history teacher, turned friend, aka mrcurtis? Repost: Goodbye, my friend, for now I would dishonor his teachings, his memory, and our relationship if I weren't deliberate about every consumption and action right now. I would dishonor that Holocaust survivor that he angered the school board to bring to our high school European History AP class to openly and honestly answer our questions if I remained one of the one-third who were blind, deaf, and silent.
So I suspect I shall be removing several more services from my life as time goes on. And I'm okay with that.
And this is my reiterating, as I do, that this podcast is a safe space. I strive to learn every day about my biases--I was born on the border of North and South Carolina, after all--and to grow. If you catch me slipping in my writing or my podcast, please give me a heads-up. I am GenX and staunchly middle-aged, and I can always stand to be corrected on these issues when I am wrong.
I hope everyone reading this is safe. I send my love. I am safe now. Please remember when you advocate to include the disabled and those on Medicaid and Medicare, and those receiving Social Security Disability, for your friendly neighborhood podcaster is included in those.
That's enough of the business, as they say on another podcast that I highly recommend, True Crime Garage. Nic and the Captain are good guys doing good work on the side of the right. Give them a listen. I leave you with them, my coupon codes, and something nice and cheerful for your Monday, to cleanse the palate, since we had to discuss All That Is Going On. A nice, dank, GenX meme that is funny because it is true. I did, out of clay.
