Near the border between Missouri and Oklahoma, locals have reported sightings of a mysterious, glowing orb of light which only appears down a particular road. The stories have existed for more than a century, but the countless theories and investigations have not been able to reach a satisfying consensus as to what it actually is.
Why I chose this one: I am from North Carolina, so I grew up with stories of spooklights: long-dead widows keeping other women’s sailors safe; a decapitated train engineer looking for his head; the Appalaichians lit up by the spirits of Cherokees. Enjoy.
