Thank you! I really appreciate this. I was recently told by someone that I talk about being disabled as a form of attention-seeking. It’s my job 24-7; it consumes my life. I don’t expect any attention for it, but I do expect to be able to talk about it the way other people talk about their careers, at least. My life revolves around making sure I don’t careen into the wall the next time I stand up, and did I take my meds, and don’t go to sleep for a second without a CPAP machine…and I can’t talk about that? Now that’s crippling.
Thanks for being so supportive. I am so much more than disabled…but I am also disabled, you know? It just is.
This was great, Carla! Thanks for sharing all this.
