These counselors were definitely not trained on the buddy system. At Camp Occoneechee, we were not allowed to do anything alone. To quote Scream: “You pee, I pee.”
How do you rank the classic 80s horror series we grew up with? I know, I know - some of them started during the 70s, but of course they all stretched their legs some time around 1985. Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm St, maybe Hellraiser is also in this category... how would you rank 'em?
Looking at each series’ original movie, Halloween and Nightmare are my favorites. I love all of them, but if forced to choose, it would be Halloween, Nightmare, Friday, then Hellraiser, just looking at how often I rewatch them--but Hellraiser is still high above most other horror movies.
As for the series as a whole: all four are uneven. I am currently rewatching the Elm St series, and was reminded of how much I disliked Alice; 4 and 5 were brought down because of her. Maybe it’s the writing of the character, maybe it’s the casting, maybe both. Friday is stronger; however, both it and Hellraiser go to space eventually, and Friday/Nightmare end with that unfortunate fighting Freddy by using the f-slur scene in Freddy v. Jason (and apparently that was ad-libbed, which makes it worse somehow).
So series order: Halloween, Hellraiser (for the strong first three, at least), Friday, Nightmare.
I would still choose to binge Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street over many, many choices.
Next week, perhaps. My fatigue has been off the charts. After the Taylor Swift concert film, I basically slept on and off for two days. I hates it, yes, precious.

Great answer! I would be happy to hear more if you are so inclined to write something for this week's Macabre Monday along those lines.

Hell yeah. This can wait!
